Appropriate Format and Style

  • The submission file is preferred to be in Microsoft Word. Submissions in OpenOffice or RTF document file format are accepted.
  • Where available, URLs for the references should be provided.
  • The article should be single-spaced; use 12-point Times New Roman font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • Articles should use clear, concise English and should consistently follow USA spelling and punctuation norms.
  • Special characters (such as Greek and Hebrew) require a Unicode font.
  • Abbreviations and bibliographic references should conform to The SBL Handbook of Style (2nd ed.), supplemented by The Chicago Manual of Style (16th ed.).

Conditions for Submission

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The author will need to provide consent to the Journal Publishing Agreement.
  • The author will participate in the publishing process by creating an account on the journal’s online publishing platform. This account will enable the submitted article to go through the editing process with the author’s input.
  • The author agrees to the submitted article being single-blind peer reviewed.
  • Submissions will be edited for technical and textual reasons; these suggested edits will be communicated to the author for their approval.

Feature Articles

  • Each edition of GCBJM ordinarily publishes a feature article that is 2,500 to 8,000 words (including footnotes).
  • Prospective contributors should submit articles in the appropriate format and style.
  • Submissions should not include the author’s name for blind peer-review.

Articles

  • Each edition of GCBJM publishes several short form articles that are 1,000 to 2,500 words (including footnotes).
  • Prospective contributors should submit articles in the appropriate format and style.
  • Submissions should not include the author’s name for blind peer-review.

Resource Reviews

  • Resources include books, curriculums, training materials, podcasts, or other types of media that serve to inform, influence, and equip field missionaries.
  • The managing editors ordinarily select the resources for review and the reviewer.
  • If you are interested in being a potential reviewer or have a specific resource you recommend for review, you may contact the managing editors (gcbjm@imb.org).
  • Prospective contributors should submit resource reviews in the appropriate format and style.
  • As part of arranging reviews, the managing editor will supply guidelines to reviewers.
