Abstract

Cross-cultural theological educators encounter many challenges arising from culture. Many of these challenges are related to the fact that culture affects relationships and education. In light of these difficulties, this paper will first present some challenges cross-cultural theological education is facing. Then, it will look to mission history and the indigenization movement and argue that, though the indigenization movement focused on church planting, the basic principles also apply to cross-cultural theological education. Finally, the paper will present some applications for cross-cultural theological education in Southeast Asia based on the indigenization movement.
