Abstract

Brian and Shirley Smith’s outstanding contribution to mission
in Tripura was capped by the translation of the New Testament
into Kok Borok. This language did not have its own script. The
choice of Roman script for the translation had unexpected
political ramifications demonstating once more the power of
language to disturb and to convert.
