How the Local Church Can Develop a Strategy for Healthy Sending and Supporting
Main Article Content
Abstract
The local church is both the means and the ends of seeing the Great Commission fulfilled. Throughout the New Testament, the local church is the primary agent God uses to send and support missionaries to proclaim the gospel and plant healthy, reproducible churches. Churches often have not seen themselves in this role and have relied heavily on a mission agency to carry the load in sending and supporting their members on the mission field. How can churches regain a faithful biblical framework and develop a practical strategy to both send and care for their missionaries sent to the nations? This article seeks to lay forth key passages to lay a foundation for missionary care, while also giving churches practical steps for sending and supporting 'for the sake of the Name.'
