The Wabash Center Journal on Teaching is an online, open-access, peer-reviewed quarterly journal on teaching in the fields of religious and theological studies in higher education.
The journal is edited by The Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion (which is fully funded by Lilly Endowment Inc.), and is published through arrangements with Atla.
The journal sustains the Wabash Center's leadership established by 21 years of editing "Teaching Theology & Religion" (published by Wiley). We have transferred the entire editorial-team over to continue the same commitment to critical reflection on classroom teaching practice that was the hallmark of TTR.
The journal publishes the scholarship of teaching (SoTL) in the fields of theology and religion (religious studies), in both undergraduate and theological education contexts. The Wabash Center Journal on Teaching carries forth a particular type of academic writing in which teacher-practitioners critically reflect on their teaching practice — surfacing their assumptions, and analyzing their pedagogical intentions and designs.
All manuscripts published in the journal are subject to an outside, double-blind, peer review process. Peer reviewers have been cultivated from participants in 20 years of Wabash Center teaching workshops, members (and former members) of the journal's editorial board, and previous authors published in the journal. Peer reviewers are provided explicit criteria by which to assess the quality of an article.
The full content of this open-access journal is free both for authors and readers. Authors retain full copyright of their published manuscript.
Submissions to the journal must be original work. All submissions will be screened for plagiarism. The journal will immediately reject papers determined to be plagiarized or self-plagiarized. Read More.
